You guys. I’m doing this. You know all those dumb Pinterest quote printables that are like “If you can’t stop thinking about it – don’t stop working for it!!!!!!” ? This is that for me. I can’t remember the last time I was this excited about something. Honestly, even Reese. Because that also was a lot more risky and scary TO BE FAIR. The risk and fear of this is pretty minimal.
I’ve been reading a lot of self-help books, rediscovering myself and my passions, and really thinking about where I want to go and what I want to do. I found myself coming back to a few things:
- I love hanging with friends and cool people
- I love planning, to do lists, scheduling, organizing, and optimizing
- I love teaching
- I love throwing parties and planning events
- I love helping people
So I’m gonna teach a planning class.
I mean, it’s not rocket science and when I look at it now I’m like “Why didn’t I just freaking figure this out back when I was married without kids and had all the time in the world??” Well, I actually know why. I am a completely different person. Seriously, I couldn’t have even figured this out a few months ago! Because I’ve experienced so much in the last couple of months that I NEEDED before I could be brave and ready to do this.
It might suck. And it might not be as cool as I picture it in my head. It may confirm your long held suspicions that I truly am a total and complete control freak who needs to be locked up. But it might not. And I’m doing it just for that “might.”
There are a lot of reasons now isn’t the ~best time. I’m super pregnant. I have a toddler. It’s the holiday season. I might be able to squeeze in one more before Baby Holdy arrives. Once Baby Holdy does arrive I’ll have a toddler AND a newborn. And who really needs a planning class, anyway???
According to many of you guys – plenty of people do. And now is as good a time as any. The idea is that you can attend my class and put the stuff in practice for the holiday season and then meet the new year with resolutions and a planning system to help you just kick booty.
My hope is that this goes great, and I continue to teach one every couple of months.
My hope is that I can also turn it into an e-course for people who don’t live here or don’t have time to attend a physical class.
My hope is that I could even do one-on-one personal planning consultations because I’ve done two of those and they are SO FUN and SO FULFILLING.
My hope is that it helps people learn how to make a planner work for them, and to make it a habit that enriches their lives.
My hope is that it gives people the tools to take control of their life and schedule to achieve their goals and make things happen.
My hope is that everyone is as excited about the swag bags and door prizes I’ve purchased as I am!!!
My hope is that this becomes my ~thing.
My hope is that I’m being brave and not stupid, helpful and not obnoxious, inspired and not unrealistic.
If you’re not interested, send me good vibes. Talk to ya later. If you ARE interested…
Danica’s Planning Class
- Date: Wednesday November 30
- Time: 7-8:30 pm
- Location: Provo City Library
- Ticket Price – $40 (covers venue, materials, and prizes) sold on Eventbrite.
- I have a small classroom setup and want to keep this one cozy to beta test it
- Curriculum will include my planning philosophy, planning basics, how to start/set-up a planner, different planning systems and options, and any about a million other ideas that we’ll get to if there’s time. I will also leave plenty of time for Q&A to make sure that you get personalized planning help.
- You will take home a planning swag bag, some planning materials and the electronic files for you to print as many times as you want, and some lucky people will win cool door prizes!
- This is for beginners and regular planners alike – it’s a-ok if you have never used or even owned a planner before!
- My plan is to absolutely do this again as long as it works and there is interest, so if you can’t come on the 30th or you don’t get a seat you will hopefully have another opportunity in the future.
Please fill out the form if you’re interested in attending the November 30th class or future classes – and feel free to share with other people who may potentially be interested in attending a planning class.
Thank you all for your kind words of encouragement and support, and to the many friends and family members who have listened to me talk circles around this idea for the last month. You da real MVPs.

So happy you have found something that can most definitely become your ~thing!!!!! That’s the real goal in life and I’m swimming trying to figure out what mine is also. You’re gonna kill it!
This is the best thing ever. If you can, could you plan one on a weekend? I live in Pocatello, so I can’t come down during the middle of the week. (Well, I guess I could haha. Ok. I could. But not this time because we’re already coming down to Utah like a million times in November and December.) ANYWAY. A weekend would be grand too.
Ermmmm can I get a swag bag anyway? Hahaha. I LOVE PLANNING AND PLANNING STUFF AND ALL THE ORGANIZATIONAL PRODUCTSSSSSSS.
so if I haven’t sold all the seats the day of I’ll have unused swag bags and I’d be happy to mail you one with all the materials if you buy an open ticket and can’t come! But I also want to do a weekend one and I’ll be putting up the e-course hopefully by January!
I’ve had multiple people ask me if you’re ever going to do an online class! Type-A people, unite!
So…..I filled out the form even tho I won’t be in UT because I saw the “would you like this as an e-course option” — this is just as an fyi since i won’t be able to take advantage of a free ticket. this sounds, awesome, danica!! i really think it will ROCK SO HARD.
I’m so excited for you!
[…] buy tickets here or fill out the Google Form to receive updates about future classes/the e-course in this post. […]
