It’s been a semi-resolution/goal for me to get dressed more frequently and how pathetic is that? And it’s not like I’ve got 3 kids constantly destroying my house and will to live and I’m barely scraping by to get a shower. I know that’s a reality for some Super Moms and I’m weirdly excited for when that’s my life. No, I have very little excuse for why I put on clothes maybe twice a week. And by “clothes” I mean an Old Navy boyfriend tee and leggings.
I miss my clothes! The other night I couldn’t sleep (Oh hi yes hello I’m still dealing with that so YAYYYYYYYY) so I took to cleaning out my style pinboards. I have a lot of different categories and here they are:
- Casual – everyday looks. What I’d wear to dinner with friends or family, appointments, shopping, etc.
- Nice – I used this one the most because it was outfits I could wear to school or church. Usually on Sunday nights I’d pull up this board, skim through and come up with 5-6 outfits for the upcoming week. Getting dressed at 5:30 am 5x a week really wears you down if you don’t have a plan of attack, you know.
- Fancy – Least used board, for the random party or event where I won’t look ridiculous in a tulle skirt and sparkly heels.
- Cozy – athleisure looks, warm and oversized sweater looks, basically what I pictured myself wearing over Christmas break or on weekends when I wanted to be more stylish than just pajamas.
- Travel – Comfy and basic looks that would pack well and build together for multiple outfits.
- Holiday – I started this one this year to help with my #12DaysofChristmas inspiration.
- Pregnant – pretty self-explanatory but I LOVE this board and still add to it even though I’m not pregnant. It was SO HELPFUL to see what other women were doing with their bumps.
So anyway I was going through my “Nice” pinboard to plan an outfit for church the next day and realized that so many of those pins were either really old (YIKES I had a lot of neon pencil skirts in there sorry everyone) or things I would never, EVER wear even if they were cute. It felt kind of good to see that I actually have firmed up my style a little bit more.

I cleaned house. I deleted probably 200+ pins from that board so that it would be actually useful and indicative of style I like. And I wasn’t surprised by this but it was BLAZER CITY UP IN THAT BOARD. I have SUCH a good collection of blazers. That was my main staple when I was teaching. I always wore them with slacks, trousers, dresses or skirts in a professional setting, and was sick of them come evenings and weekends – so I never got around to some of the chic blazer + graphic tee or blazer + ripped jeans looks I liked so much.
Blazer: Ella Bella Boutique forever ago, Tank: Target, Jeans: Gap, Shoes: H&M
Harry Potter EARRINGS! They’re small but can you see the lightning bolt??? I love them. My aunt Debbie got them for my birthday last year and I wear them to every HP meeting.
Yesterday felt pretty balmy and nice, and I actually had a Harry Potter Book Club meeting to attend so this mustard blazer was calling my name. Mustard is one of my absolute favorite wardrobe colors and it feels so Hogwarts-y to me for some reason. I only wore this one to school a couple of times because the length makes it a little more of a challenge – but it’s also a reason I love it! I think it makes me look a little longer and leaner than my short, lumpy body sometimes makes me feel LOL.
Outfit: Carters, Headband: June & January (I promise she wears shoes/socks when we go out, she just kicks/pulls them off so we wait until the last possible second LOL)
Of course Reese joined and was ALSO sporting some mustard. Sometimes I consciously match us, but a lot of the time it’s subconscious. I think I wake up with certain color schemes in my head and it just bleeds through into both of our outfits without me really knowing. We have phased Reese out of her 6-12 and 9-12 month clothes, so now she is in exclusively 12 month sizes. It was sad, but every time she jumps up it’s like an entirely new closet for me to outfit plan and it’s more adrenaline than a drug for me. #momperks

That blazer is everything! I have such a hard time finding cute ones unless they are from J Crew and cost a fortune…also Reese kills me!
Yeah, I think we may have both been scrolling through those Pinterest boards of yours on the same night. Muchas gracias for providing food for my late night insomnia fodder!
You are adorable! I love your outfit and want your blazer! And, Rhys and Reese NEED a playdate!
