Ooooohhhh Danica. Now is not the time to pretend you are anywhere NEAR the world of fashion these days. I know, I know. But when my friend Brooke invited me to participate she was just way too flattering. People are so nice to me, you guys. Just yesterday a checkout girl was like “You are SUCH a cute pregnant lady!!” My family and friends are always saying “You look GREAT!” And I feel so good!
LIES.
Because when I planned and put on this outfit I was thinking pregnant-grunge-chic. Unfortunately when there’s an extra 25 pounds on your 5’4” frame that pregnant-grunge-chic just looks knocked-up-hobo-Jabba-the-Hutt. But I’m nothing if not real with you guys. This is pregnancy style: leggings and cankles and hormones making your hair grow awkwardly too fast for maintenance trims and not being able to button up any shirt ever. Not all of us are going to be Rachel Parcell pregnancy models. You might pull off the fashion blogger pregnancy, but don’t feel bad if you just end up looking stretch pants grungy like me. I’ll accept you.
HOW WE WORE IT
Me, Brooke and a bunch of other blogger girls were inspired by this great fall outfit by Suburban Faux-Pas:
It’s a great play of texture and fit – slick jeans, structured booties, classic plaid, fluffy fur and the smooth swoop of a floppy hat. Minus the fur (never been a Danica thing), this is an outfit I would wear straight off the page. But as the token pregnant girl interpreting this look I wanted to give the real deal pregnancy style representation of how I rock the plaid-and-booties look for a day of appointments and errands.
Leggings: Old Navy, Top: H&M, Plaid: Cotton On, Booties: Forever Young

Instead of denim I opted for the plain black maternity leggings and a long gray tee as my base, which I add to throughout the day for temperature and formality level. This plaid shirt is GOLD. It’s one of my favorite purchases ever. It’s so soft and comfy! I throw it on over leggings with boots, under sweaters with trousers for school and even tucked into pencil skirts with heels! Plaid with cheetah is one of my favorite unexpected combos, and these booties are in my regular rotation the last few weeks CANKLES BE DAMNED. Throw on a few gold accessories to look intentional and some shades to cover up those dark circles because Baby Holdy was punching my ribs all night and voila! Pregnant 31 Weeks Danica’s interpretation of the classic fall plaid.
I’ll be doing a few more maternity style posts in the last 2 months of my pregnancy, including a non-nude, no belly exposure maternity shoot! Sorry you won’t be seeing the gross stretched skin of my globe-like bump. Those posts should be a little more chic hopefully, but I’ll make no promises.

You seriously look so good! Love the plaid. My one plaid shirt bit the dust last year and I’ve been sad ever since. I love this entire look!
